ARTS & HUMANITIES
The YMCA has a long history of providing classes and educational opportunities to people in our communities. Programs can include dance classes, such as ballet, jazz, hip hop and tap; art classes, such as pottery, drawing and painting; gymnastics and tumbling classes for babies through young adults.
Ballroom Dancing: Enjoy the art of dancing. Learn different dances including Swing, Cha-Cha, West Coast Swing, Salsa/Mambo, Waltz, Rumba, Tango and Foxtrot. It’s an evening of dance fever.
Creative Dramatics: Learn theater games, vocal exercises, acting and movement skills, plus what it takes to be an actor and produce a play! Learn to be a character and discover stage basics as well as how to use costumes, make-up, props and much more!
Gymnastics: This program incorporates beginning skills such as using beams, bars and floor activities in a fun, safe environment. Skills are developed through the use of songs and games to promote stretching, balance and coordination.
Marital Arts: Martial Arts are designed to improve one’s self both physically and emotionally. Classes are taught year-round in a safe, yet progressive environment. Benefits from Marital Arts include increased endurance, flexibility, increased self-control and enhanced discipline and focus.
